headeryogaminaInfluenced by my mentors, teachers, peers and environment, I aim to bring  a unique sense of empowerment to each of my classes.

Hi! I’m Yazmine, a certified yoga teacher and holistic nurse located in Oakland, California. As an advocate for healthy body image, holistic health and wellness, I teach yoga as a way to promote courage, confidence and organic self-care. I enjoy teaching in such a way that weaves my deep understanding of alignment and anatomy with the inspirational connections to yoga I see in everyday life.  The way each person chooses to interact with their own energy and the energy that surrounds them is worth cultivating an awareness with.

Graciously, I received my 200-hour yoga teacher training from Purusha Yoga in SF, where I currently train in  the 300-hour advanced teacher training with Laxman Panthi, Joy Ravelli and Lucia Young. It is an honor to be mentored by phenomenal teachers like Laxman Panthi and Dari Love Sylvia. I attended SF State University where I obtained my BSN in 2004. I’ve been a healthcare professional for over 23 years, started my career as a medical assistant,  health educator, registered nurse and clinical consultant.

I embarked Asana practice 9 years ago in Bikram Yoga and deepened my practice through Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin/Restorative. Then I realized my passion to teach yoga when I incorporated gentle yoga stretch and guided meditation through a health education program I designed for seniors living with chronic conditions, such as type II diabetes and heart disease.  As I continued to delve into my practice, a love of yoga compelled me to pursue the opportunity to educate others in a fun, stress-relieving and safe way.

Along with my passion for holistic healing and Ayurveda medicine, I truly believe in the power of healing through yoga and meditation, and that movement is nourishment for the body. I also believe in teaching daily self-care practices in Ayurveda Yoga to promote and nourish a better mind-body connection.

On a deeper mindfulness practice in Health Education, I created YogaMind, a course on mindfulness and yoga movement in the classroom, teaching essential life skills to build and empower school-aged kids physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. Incorporating these holistic practices to schools/community organizations making the student’s lives healthier, self-regulate behavior, achieve academic success, increase confidence and positive self-image.

Currently, I’m teaching a private Vinyasa Yoga class in the SF Mission Bay community, Yoga in Golden Gate Park and Family Yoga at Dimond Branch Library in Oakland. Presently, I have openings for privates, small group privates, wellness/team-building corporate classes, teen athletes and individuals with sports injuries. I enjoy teaching All-levels Vinyasa, Hip Yoga, Core Yoga, Vin-Yin, Chair Yoga, Yoga for Seniors: Write-On-Wrists, Yin/Restorative and Rumi Yoga.

My yoga practice contributes specialized emphasis on detoxification, healthy body alignment, holistic energy needs and building core strength. All students in my class will be inspired to cultivate wellness and happiness through intention, pranayama breathing yoga flow, aligning all 7 energy chakras of the body.

Join me for a loving experience of your breath, energy and body as you learn to identify and cultivate a strong connection with your inner Satnam.

As the words of Jalal ad-Din Rumi once whispered to earth soil, “The joy of being human is uncovering the core we already are, the treasure buried in the ruin”.
